Hey friends and family! I hope you are doing well. There is good news to report here from New York City! At the end of May, New Life Fellowship offered me a permanent position and I officially accepted. They hired me on as “Operations Administrator,” which basically means I’ll be running the behind-the-scenes operations for the church—this includes managing the database, the network, some of the administrative staff, and helping to coordinate the Sunday morning services. I’m still getting adjusted to the new position, but I think this job is a great fit for me while I’m still discovering who God’s made me to be. I’m getting to use a lot of my technical skills, which I really enjoy. Also, I’ll be able to continue to do some “pastorship” type job duties on the side, such as Bible study leading and coaching among other things, which I’m really excited about as well.

Celebrating out 3-year anniversary - April 28th

Hey everyone! I hope you are finding ways to enjoy the sunshine now that spring is here. April went by so quickly—it’s hard for me to believe that summer is almost upon us. Amy Jo and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary on the 28th of this month, and we were able to get away for a few days. We had some much needed rest and relaxation in Princeton, NJ and we really enjoyed all the trees!

Happy Belated Easter, everybody! I hope your Resurrection Sunday celebrations were enjoyable and restful. The month of March flew by really fast and the details for our Haiti trip are taking shape. It’s an exciting time in my internship, and I’m really enjoying the experience.

Hey everybody! February was a great month here in the Big Apple. It’s been a busy, productive few weeks and I’m looking forward to the rest of my internship—especially as Spring gets closer and closer.

What I’m learning:
This month I’ve really been exploring what it means to be self aware. In ministry, it can be so tempting to shut down your emotions, become consumed with activities and abandon your heart. In leadership training this month, we completed a personality test as well as a genogram that helped the group outline our family trees and possible sins and/or habits that have been passed down through generations. I’m thinking through what it means to experience a range of emotions, from anger to sadness and everything in between. I know that exploring these emotions and where they stem from can only strengthen my walk and my intimacy with God as I bring them before him in prayer.

Hey everybody! January has been a really busy month here in New York City. New Life has begun planning for the new year and we’ve got a lot of great things coming in 2009.
